Quite worryingly, the reply date for the RSVP’s is only a day away. The countdown on the website seems to be ticking down at rather an alarming speed too. So much to organise!

We think we’ve got most of the replies in now, but there are a couple of invitees that we haven’t heard from yet, so if you haven’t let us know yet, prepare to experience the virtual thumbscrews being tightened. :o)

Shampoo and wind

After a few weeks being lazy, (well trying to recover from this ruddy bug), I looked out of the window at the semi-sunny sky and decided today was the day to get back on my bike and cycle to work.

It looked so nice outside, but once I’d traveled all of 10 yards I regretted my decision. There was a bugger of a headwind - 20 mph to be exact. That doesn’t sound like much, but on a 10 mile cycle ride with the nagging feeling you’ve left your brakes on for most of it, it soon gets a little boring.

The whole journey took about 45 minutes and I felt every second of it.

Of course rather than admit I’ve got a bit rusty in the last few weeks, I put it down to the weight of a bottle of shampoo I had in my backpack.

Hopefully the site should stop going offline now. I’ve sent a few emails to my hosts, who say they have been having problems with their servers.

They promise me it is being fixed now, although there may be a little downtime on Sunday night and Monday morning while they do a diagnostic thingy.

Also, as a quick note to those of you that may have noticed the slideshow was dropping to the bottom of the page if you were viewing it in Firefox. It’s all fixed now.

A useful caffeine fix

As we wind down towards the end of our holiday, we’ve spent a couple of days doing bugger all.

Yesterday was Sunday. It does seem that Sunday is Sunday wherever you are in the world and there isn’t that much to do. That suited us though, as the weather was average outside and we were recovering from the night before.

Today, we decided to go out for a walk in the fresh snow to the Triendlsäge, a restaurant that we went to 4 years ago for my birthday.

Then it was down to the Braükeller for a nice Tyrolean lunch with Alois. Our expresso fuelled idea this time round (last time it was for him to get Wireless Internet) was for him to turn the old Kanne nightclub into a members gym open to non-hotel guests. He seemed quite enthused by the idea.

But that may have been just a caffeine high.

Sweet Surprise

We popped back to the Sportsailer restaurant for my birthday dinner tonight. We were going to go to a place we went for my birthday and ate delicious dumplings in a nearby forest 4 years ago when we visited together for the first time, but it was too far to walk and we couldn’t be bothered.

It was lovely, we had Spaghetti Bolognese and while I nipped off to the toilet, Kel romantically lined up a candlelit birthday dessert for me.

Afterwards we flounced around the local bars for a couple of sweet sherries. After Kel had changed his top, as he’d managed to get tomato sauce all over his sleeves after dinner.

On top of the world!

My Birthday! Thanks to everyone for the text messages, emails and e-cards.

Had a bit of a dodgy tummy this morning, we couldn’t decide what it was but Kel had it yesterday, so we think it’s either a little bug or too much rich food. :o)

After a webcam chat with mum and dad we set off to the top of the Rosshütte. Which is a mountain train and cable car that takes skiers and sightseers to the top of one of the highest points in Seefeld and the Alps.

The views up there are amazing, you can see way off in every direction. The difference in temperature is amazing, with it being close to -20ºc at the top.

After taking a few pictures we headed back down, stuffing ourselves with chicken and chips on the way.

Medieval Candlelight Dinner

Yum. Well apparently every Friday night, the Hotel switches of all the lights and illuminates all the rooms with candles only.

The effect is beautiful, a lovely cosy feeling takes over the whole public area, and all the staff wear monks outfits. (The Hotel was a monastery many years ago.)

I also decided to take Kel to the Hotel’s gourmet restaurant for the night as I’ll be working on Valentines. We had a lovely meal, check out the pictures.

We bumped into a few members of the Seyrling family today, and have noticed that everyone we tell we went to Mittenwald looks a little shocked and says ‘Oh’.

The hills are alive….

We woke up this morning to the beautiful sight of a fresh covering of snow.

It was -12ºc, but a lovely clear morning, so we decided to take a trip down to Mittenwald, which is just a short trip into Germany by train from Seefeld.

We got rather excited when we saw a real life nun looking very serene and glowing (see background in the picture of Kel) on the train.

This was followed by disappointment when she didn’t break out into song. It also took a bit of tactical manoeuvring to get a picture of her without her knowing.

Once we got there, Mittenwald was lovely. It’s all cobbled streets and quaint little shops and painted buildings. We wandered around for a while, and as usual the first thing on our minds was lunch. So we ate, and knocked back a nice warming glass of Glüwein.

A sobering coffee later, and we were accosted by a chatty local pensioner with broken English, who told us she loved London and ‘what were we doing with ze terrorists’. Bless.
