Well we’ve got a little bit of warm sunny weather at last. Absolutely beautiful out there today which means it’s almost 2 1/2 months since our last sunny weather.

According to the Monthly Outlook on the BBC website August could turn out to be a nice month all in all.

I predict in about 3 weeks time we’ll have ‘the hottest day on record’ and all have hosepipe bans because there hasn’t been enough rain.

We saw the new Harry P movie at the weekend. It’s very good. It doesn’t really move the plot on very much but it’s still great entertainment.

Our second toilet seat was delivered today to replace the first that was broken on delivery.

Guess what? This one is broken too

Well last time it was poisoning striking down 25 people and this time it’s freak storms bringing London and the trains to a standstill.

No trip to Torquay for us, I think we get the hint now.

We’re making a second attempt at our honeymoon down to Torquay this weekend.

The met office have decide to release a severe weather warning for the exact time we’re due to set off.

Fingers crossed eh?

Day 11 - It’s finished (almost)!

It looks lovely.

It took another 6 hours but the builder has done a fine job and it looks really nice. Despite the fact it now has a bath in it, the room actually looks much bigger and so light compared to the dark pit we had before. It has the secondary effect of lightening up the hall and making that part of the apartment nice and bright.

The lower voltage extractor fan and the toilet seat should be fitted in a week or so when we get them delivered.

Pictures to follow.

Day 10 - So close

Not quite finished. As we thought.

Bit of painting left to do, and a missing loo seat which they broke at the start of the job and haven’t been able to replace. So we’ve come to a deal where they will come back to fit it. Also the extractor fan we ordered has too much wattage to be right next to the shower, so we have to order another one that is 12 volt.

Day 9 - Everything but the bathroom sink

Finally, the finishing touches are being made.

The bathroom floor is nearly tiled, the walls have all been grouted and look very nice. The bathroom sink has the taps fitted, but is sitting on the living room floor at the moment.

The plumber tells us it will be completed tomorrow. We’re inclined to believe that when we see it, but live in hope.

The whole place is covered in a thick film of dust from the tile cutting, it’s pointless attempting to clean it up as it will all be back by the next morning. If it’s done in another day, Friday is going to be cleaning day.

Day 8 - Under pressure(d)

The bath taps plus bits and bobs have been fitted today, it’s also been boxed and tiled in.

The hot water pressure is very low in the apartment. It always has been, but when trying to run the bath taps you can really tell the difference. The plumber has been looking at the boiler but can’t seem to find anything wrong. Tsk.

As long as it’s okay for showers in the meantime, if we need to bath for now we can set it filling up just before our next trip to Australia and it should be ready by the time we get back.
