Off we go to Seefeld for our second trip to The Klosterbrau this year thanks to a lovely wedding gift from Alois and Romina.

We took a different route this year. BA were charging far more for their direct flights from Gatwick to Innsbruck so we flew from London City to Munich then took the train from Munich to Seefeld.

All in all it was quite a smooth journey, only interrupted by a lady having trouble with her 2 cats (yes, live cats) on the flight. In the end she kept one with her (that cried all the way) and the crew bunged the other one in a luggage hold.

Staff at Munich Airport were very helpful and we had our tickets to Seefeld secured within a few minutes of collecting our luggage (which came out first!). 3 hours later we were happily settled in our lovely room.

Alois is in Dusseldorf today so we won’t see him until tomorrow. We spoke to him on the phone and there are already rumblings of a ‘beer festival’ and ‘let’s make party’ from him. :o)

This evening we took our traditional trip out to the Sportsailer. We intended to have the ‘Seefelder’ pizza, but were horrified to find the menu has changed. Forced out of our comfort zone we still managed to polish off 2 new pizzas and a nice bottle of wine.

Well we’re back from finally making our trip to Torquay. As you’d expect because we were only away for a day or so it already feels like we’ve never been gone.

The journey down was nice, we bumped ourselves up to first class for a tenner each. The announcement that we could do that came at just the right time as a rather smelly man had just parked himself near us in cattle class.

We felt relaxed as soon as the buildings disappeared and we travelled into green countryside. We arrived pretty well on time, and Kel was amazed to see what Torbay was like. He didn’t realise we have places with palm trees and a mild climate in the UK. He mentioned it reminded him of Australia, and I could see what he meant.

The first night we just settled into the hotel and went out for a meal. After that we did the usual wander around the harbour. Very pretty.

Next morning, we were up early (and a little tired due to some people talking outside the hotel all night) and after a full English set off on our walk along the coastline from Torquay through Paignton and on to Brixham. It was cloudy but luckily the rain held off and we had a nice walk. I showed Kel Redcliffe Lodge as we walked past it, it hasn’t changed in the slightest.

A little later in the walk (after we had untangled ourselves from a rather thorny ‘shortcut’) we bumped into some locals, who told us it was still a fair way to Brixham. As it was lunchtime we hopped onto the next bus for the rest of the way.

Brixham was beautiful. Pam and Dave, you must pop down to that part of the world on your next trip to the UK, it really is stunning.

After returning back to the hotel, we nipped out for dinner and had a gorgeous Calzone, by the time we’d polished that and a bottle of wine off we were ready for sleeping.

The next morning we awoke to a torrential downpour which only became more severe as time went on. We had our Taxi to the station booked for 12.00pm, and about 15 minutes before it was due the heavens opened. The entire of central Torquay was badly flooded, shops were evacuated and the roads were blocked. The taxi driver arrived 15 minutes late, but luckily he was an old local who knew the ‘high back roads’ to get us to the station and avoid all the increasing floods and traffic chaos.

He then muttered those immortal words, that we’re getting used to hearing on any trip that involves Torquay.

‘I’ve never seen rain like this, in all my life it’s the worst I’ve seen’.

Sue is visiting us for the weekend.

After a daytime stroll down the Thames, we decided to take the opportunity of lovely weather to have a picnic in Greenwich on the hill next to the observatory.

Kel prepared a lovely meal, a nice salad and a bottle of wine while watching the sun go down over London.

Oh F*&$#&^*! Hell

We now have a lovely new loo seat in our bathroom.

Thanks Chris and Andy for your comments. :o)
How about some more photos of the now finished bathroom - featuring the famous toilet seat, which I presume is crystal as it keeps arriving broken???

We will, but unfortunately the extractor fan that was due to be fitted doesn’t bloody work. So now we have to get another one. That will be 3 of everything we’ve had to order so far.

Honestly, renovating this bathroom has been like pulling teeth. Where’s Sarah Beeny when you need her?

The builder told us when getting stuff like this we should try to buy as much from a store as possible rather than ordering on the internet. The internet is cheaper in general, but apparently there is bugger all quality control.

We can believe that.
