We spent this morning putting together the new bed.

As we were assembling it we noticed it was rather large, and seemed even bigger than the bed we had at Canada Wharf.

When we finally finished we realised we must have ordered the ‘Superking’ bed. It’s absolutely massive, we were worried at first that the room may be swamped, but it fits in fine and we popped on our nice new red duvet cover for good measure.

The last couple of days we’ve been graced with the presence of mum and dad. Who came down to visit our new place and have a second Christmas for a couple of days.

Quite a lot of time was taken up by mum saying ‘Oh look Glen, a boat’ and dad then dashing out on the balcony and getting into various odd positions to take pictures of said boat. He has taken some great night shots though.

Thanks to Sue for the fantastic surround sound TV system. We’ve now got a cinema in our living room. I’m sure the neighbours will be happy.

Our Ikea delivery also arrived today, and I spent the afternoon putting together our bookcase. Tomorrow we tackle the bed (before I go back to work, tsk.).

Merry Christmas everyone.

It’s been a quiet one this year in our new home. I’ve been happily playing with my new iPod Touch and Kel has been doing more stuff for his business. :o)

We managed to buy each other the same book too, must have the same taste.

We woke up this morning to the eerie spectacle of being completely wrapped in fog.

It’s an odd sensation, we can’t actually see anything out of the windows at all and keep expecting big fog horn sounds and a sailing ship to run aground nearby. Or maybe that’s just an overactive imagination

After a rather tipsy evening last night celebrating our successful move and finally being able to relax and look forward to Christmas, we woke up this morning to a beautiful crisp winters morning.

It’s so nice to be able to see the sky again. Kel popped down to the gym (yes, we’ve got one on site again) and scared a few people away because he couldn’t wipe the smile off his face.

Hopefully we’ll be off into the Wharf later to do some surfing on the net. We’ve found that if we sign up to the cloud it’s only £9.99 for a month of unlimited access all over the Wharf. It’s quite cheap really and will be very handy for our time without a connection at home.

We keep staring out of the window and have realised we can see the last two places we’ve lived in from our new place. :o)

UPDATE: We’re rather pleased, the WiFi is free in Canary Wharf, so we’re sipping a Starbucks and surfing right now.

COMMENT:
Dad and I are very impressed with both the apartment and the views. You could never get tired looking out each day. To make extra cash you could get tourists up there to take pictures :o)

Exchange, exchange, exchange (Part II)

Yes, it’s all been a bit of a secret, but that was mainly because we didn’t want to jinx the whole process. Yesterday we finally managed to complete on buying an apartment back in Canary Wharf after deciding to make the move back in August. The value gained on Canada Wharf in just a few short months enabled us to move back to the Isle of Dogs.

The day itself couldn’t have gone any better. We woke early and picked up a VW Van to use for the move. We packed the first load and drove over to Canary Wharf, grabbed some lunch, then drove to our Estate Agents to pick up the keys. We only had to wait 10 minutes or so for them to be told the transaction had completed and we had them in our hand. :o)

While we were waiting we joked with the agent that we’d be sitting on the floor for Christmas as we’d have no furniture. he gave us a puzzled look and told us we had furniture included (we’d asked for it to be taken away initially, but the guy we told that was on holiday and so the message was never communicated).

We excitedly drove to the apartment and let ourselves in. Not only did we have sofas, tables and a bed, but we had a DVD player, cutlery, crockery and glasses. In fact everything we needed. Bargain.

The apartment was even better than we remember from our brief viewing and the views are absolutely stunning.

We quickly moved in our first batch of gear, then picked up the remaining stuff from our previous place. Handily, on the way back we passed the garden centre we get our Christmas Trees from, so picked up that too. Yippee! I’m sure not many people get their tree on moving in day.

Now, 24 hours later we are settled in and the deccies are up. we can’t get over the size of the place and the views. We’re spending most of our time gawping out of the window either commenting on whether the Thames is in or out, or what sights we can see. (Which is pretty much everything).

Today Kel thought the decking on the balcony could do with some sprucing up. So we nipped out and bought some wood stainer to darken it. You can see from the mugshot below that it looks much nicer.

I’m not quite sure when you’ll be reading this as we’ll be without the internet for a couple of weeks.
