A nice surprise in the post today. Kel’s British passport arrived earlier than expected.

That should make things a lot easier on our travels. Kel will no longer have to queue in the ‘other passports’ section and wait ages to get seen.

It’s that time of the year again, which means I cook a meal for Kel.

This year it was Chicken en croute, with the help of Marks and Spencer. :o)

I lit candles all over the apartment, so much so that I probably brought global warming forward by a couple of decades.

I also downloaded a ‘roaring fire’ movie off the internet and put it on the TV. So we had a nice warm glow in the room. So I was at least environmentally friendly in that respect.

The second part (the table) of one of Kels birthday gifts to me arrived yesterday. It’s a patio set for the balcony.

Bizarrely the company shipped it all separately, and 4 days apart. Which is a very odd approach.

The chairs and table look very nice sitting outside though, we just need some weather warm enough to use them now.

A birthday walk

We woke up to another beautiful sunny day, after temperatures of 16.5c yesterday (unheard of for this time of year) we decided to go on a walk of discovery to an area we hadn’t been to yet.

For the first time ever I wore a T-shirt on my birthday and we set off to Hampstead and Highgate, two exclusive areas of the city well known for being very rural.

The views were lovely, after a ‘lost’ detour of about 45 minutes we discovered Golders Park, below.

Then an old lady over heard us talking and pointed in (almost) the right direction, which took us through some gorgeous parkland.

Another 30 minutes of walking later we made it to Highgate. A very pretty ‘villagey’ type of place. After wandering around looking in all of the pubs for somewhere to eat we ended up in Cafe Nero with a Panini. And guess what was next door?

I hope you don’t think we’re disloyal Pam and Dave? :o)

UPDATE: To top it all, there was an amazing sky this evening. I tried my best to take some decent pictures, but they are a bit grainy.

COMMENT:
Cheeky . You think that you can tease us because you are the other side of the world. Remember I have contacts :o) Anyway how could you not go to Costa. Tut Tut :o(

COMMENT:
He he. If it’s any consolation, we didn’t actually drink any coffee there, just drank diet coke. So we didn’t really do anything wrong. :o)

Happy (early) birthday to me

Mum and Dad have come down for a brief visit to pre-empt my birthday.

The weather has been cold and crisp but very sunny today, so we all took a trip down to the SoOrganic shop in Greenwich. Mum bought a couple of things for Sue and Nan.

That was about all we did really, after a nice coffee at Costa (Dave will be jealous) we nipped back home for our traditional Fish and Chips birthday dinner.

COMMENT:
I had to wipe the drool from Dave’s mouth. :o) I am sure Chris and Andy will be the same just remembering how much they loved Costa. Jon ,you are such a teaser.
