After a week long celebration, Mum and Dad’s Ruby Wedding Day finally arrived.

Above: Mum and Dad with the cake.

While Kel travelled up by train after the day in London Sue and I joined Mum and Dad at Church for them to renew their Wedding vows.

Afterwards we ate lunch at the Boars Head.

Once we returned home we all pretty well collapsed after the busy holiday week!

It was London Pride today and Kel had booked a stall to display and promote the Perky Piglet T-shirts www.perkypiglet.co.uk.

After an exhausting day of travel yesterday we were up again this morning and off in a Taxi to Soho Square to set up the stall. We booked a Taxi as the Jubilee line was closed yet again. I cleverly managed to leave my train tickets and house keys at home. So once we found the stall I had to hop on the Tube/DLR to get home and pick up the stuff.

After a quiet start for everyone, the Pride march ended and people soon started flooding into the area. Kat, Strad, Davey, Rich, Susie, Christian, Grant and Danielle all came along to give us a hand, which we were really grateful for.

There was heaps of interest in the T-shirts and the stall was several people deep at many times.

Between all of us we managed to hand out between 2,000 and 2,500 flyers too, which should help get the Perky Piglet name out there.

Lakeside and Otters

After eating lunch we took a cruiser down the Lakeside at the south end of Windermere.

The cool breeze on the lake finally gave relief from the high temperatures. The journey itself was quick.

Lakeside is a very, very small place, but definitely has the honour of being the only time we’ve ever pulled up to a railway platform by boat. Quite bizarre, one side of the platform is the dock, the other a steam train. :o)

Next we visited the Aquarium, which was small but fun.

We totally fell in love with the Otters and Marmoset Monkeys. :O)

We woke up to a gloriously sunny morning, the forecast was for another very hot day so we decided to go for our first proper walk.

I’d already bought a book before we left and we picked what seemed like a pretty simple 2/12 hour trip from near the hotel.

Unfortunately the map in the book was a load of rubbish, so we ended up getting completely lost and wandering around fields and nettle laden pathways.

As it turned out, the route we took was very nice, and took us a little less time then we expected.

The weather forecast promised us high temperatures but plenty of rain today, so Sue drove us all over to Castle Sizergh in Cumbria.

On arrival we found out we couldn’t get into the castle until 1pm, so wandered around the garden for a while then grabbed some lunch.

Kel and I spotted the perfect barn conversion. :o)

In the end here were no clouds, and it got hotter and hotter.

Unfortunately we don’t have any pics of the inside of the castle as cameras were not allowed. Tsk.
