Disney Theatre

Disney Theatre

After a TERRIBLE nights sleep due to a group of noisy Koreans making noise in all the rooms surrounding us until the early hours, we spent our last morning in LA taking a walk (something none of the locals do) around Downtown.

The photos I’ve added show the Disney Theatre, used a lot in TV shows, a building that was actually used in Flash Forward as the FBI headquarters but is really the Water and Energy office building for LA, not quite so glamorous.

Finally we stumbled across the LAPD complete with an LAPD cop car parked outside, Kel got very excited :o)

Following on from our visit by Sue a couple of weeks ago, Mum and Dad took a trip down to see us for a few days so we could have a pre-christmas Christmas.

They made surprisingly good time on the way, not taking much more than they would have done driving to London.

The first day I took them a quick orientation trip around the city to help them get there bearings. Mum spent her time clocking things she wanted to buy as we walked past a few of the shops. Then she made a new friend.

After a very sophisticated evening meal of Cornish Pasty and chips, we celebrated our own early Christmas (we’re off to Australia for Christmas this year so are essentially doing it twice).

On day two it was time to walk them off the end of the Pier. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, cold but crisp and very clear. Very different to when we took Sue.

Then we walked and walked and walked. Kel met us for lunch at The Black Lion, the The Lanes area, then we continued shopping. Later on we ate dinner at Zizzis. very nice.

Kel bought me a new dancing game for our Wii, so we (drunkenly) gave that a go. Mum and Dad seemed to get a second wind of energy and joined in!

On the last full day we took the bus over to Rottingdean, the village Kel and I visited just after we first arrived in Brighton.

Mum and Dad were suitably impressed.

Kel cooked us all a lovely Christmas dinner for the final night, then it was time to sit down and watch the X-Factor final while our bodies decided how overweight they were going to be after all the meals over the last few days.

Okay, okay, it’s all different

Well after years of relying on software to produce our website and putting up with crashes and things not going quite as expected, I bit the bullet and decided to design the darn thing myself, bit of a busmans holiday but there you go. You’ll need to re-subscribe to the news feed. Any issues with the site, just drop me a line. :o)

Fiddling with my iPhone

After a few weeks of being quiet I’ve had a day off in the week from work. As you all know it’s been rather manic and challenging.

So yesterday my whole day was taken with pottering around. Doing nothing in particular but enjoying it none the less.

As you all know my toy of the moment is my new iPhone 3G. I have to say it’s lived up to all my expectations and more and now I seriously would miss it if I didn’t have it. One slightly creepy thing it does is the GPS integration with Google Maps. I can walk around or sit on the bus and a little blue dot will follow me around.

I can’t help but feel if I can see where I am, I’m sure an awful lot of people I’ve never met do too.

And of course the only time over the last couple off weeks when we really needed it was last Sunday when we were lost on a bus. That was the day I’d decided to leave it at home. Tsk.

Sue is visiting us for the weekend.

After a daytime stroll down the Thames, we decided to take the opportunity of lovely weather to have a picnic in Greenwich on the hill next to the observatory.

Kel prepared a lovely meal, a nice salad and a bottle of wine while watching the sun go down over London.

The sun finally puts his bloody hat on

Well we’ve got a little bit of warm sunny weather at last. Absolutely beautiful out there today which means it’s almost 2 1/2 months since our last sunny weather.

According to the Monthly Outlook on the BBC website August could turn out to be a nice month all in all.

I predict in about 3 weeks time we’ll have ‘the hottest day on record’ and all have hosepipe bans because there hasn’t been enough rain.

Well at least people have shut up about Global Warming for a few weeks while we (along with quite a few other countries it seems) suffer some awful rain.

Here in London we’ve hardly registered on the rain-o-meter but up at Ma and Pa’s in that thar midland area they have had a fair bit and the River Trent has flooded.

Mum and Dad have commented on the ‘idiots’ that are still trying to drive through the floods. gave Dad and opportunity for a few pictures though. ;o)

The letter arrived today that we had to pay the £1.06 for.

It was our wedding certificate, so I guess it was worth it in the end. :o)
