Four Seasons Vancouver

Four Seasons Vancouver

Our summer holiday for 2010 has finally arrived.

The plan this year is to fly out to Vancouver, Canada for a few days, then spend a short time in LA before returning to Canada for a quick stay in a Whistler Mountain health resort.

Kel surprised me a couple of days ago with a upgrade to Club Class on our BA flight, woohoo! So the following might seem like it’s been written by a five year old, but that’s how it felt :0)

After a really easy journey to Heathrow we arrived at the shiny new Terminal 5 building and quickly made our way to the Galleries Lounge. We walked in to what seemed like a very contemporary five star hotel. Lots of very well dressed people, sumptuous buffets galore and about as much Champagne and booze as you’d get laid on at a wedding. All free!

A few sandwiches (I managed to ask for the one thing that they weren’t serving but they were very accommodating and made me some anyway) a coffee and a bottle of water later we’d had our fill and made our way to the gate.

This is where the fun really started :0)

The queue to board the plane was HUGE but we could just waltz past everyone else - feeling very superior - and bypass all that through the Club Class check in. I was going to give everyone a polite little wave as I walked past - as one should in these situations - but decided against it as I may have startled one of them and caused a riot.

On the plane, our seats were facing each other but side by side if that makes any sense. We had our own storage and the seats turned into a bed.

As soon as we sat down we were offered a glass of champagne, which we skulled gratefully, peasants that we are.

After take off we were brought a menu to choose from (they even called us by our names when taking the order).

I have to make a quick report on the loos. Not that much different to be honest, they smell a bit nicer thought and have posher hand wash. The pump action on it was a bit sensitive though and a big squirt of it ended up on the door. Ahem.

8 hours/drinks later we arrived on time in Vancouver.

This was maybe the most nerve-racking part of the trip, as our luggage was meant to be ‘High Priority’, meaning it should be first off the plane (like us) and on to the conveyor belt. Kel’s bag came out in seconds but for some reason they decided to leave mine until last. Way to go BA. :O)

We then quickly grabbed a taxi to the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Vancouver.

We were very pleasantly surprised as we approached the city, the weather was perfectly clear and very hot, the city itself is amazingly clean.

On check in at the Four Season the very smiley receptionist informed us we’d been upgraded to a ‘Panoramic’ room. We were on the top floor! Yay!
